Lazy-Days Sangria
Servings: 6  
 

Classic Sangria — made at home — offers your guests not only a refreshing beverage but a most hospitable one. If you cannot find white peaches, yellow will do, but the white take on a pretty burgundy glow when touched with the red wine.

 

INGREDIENTS

1 bottle light red table wine
1 thinly sliced lemon, plus slices for garnish
1 thinly sliced orange, plus slices for garnish
2 thinly sliced summer peaches (white peaches preferred)
  Sugar to taste
1 (12-ounce) bottle seltzer
 



METHOD

A few hours before the party, add the wine — alternately with the fruit (not fruit garnish) — to a pitcher. Taste and add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time. Chill in the refrigerator. At serving time, add the seltzer and ice. Using a sharp paring knife, slit the orange and lemon garnish slices a quarter of the way into the slice and hang over the side of the glass.
